House Martell of Sunspear is one of the great houses of The Seven Kingdoms and is the ruling house of Dorne in the deep south of Westeros. ‘Nymeros’ derives from “the line of the great warrior queen, Nymeria. Their seat of power is in Sunspear.

The Martells in the old days took a spear as their sigil , whilst Nymeria of The Rhoynar used the sun as theirs. Nymeria wed Lord Mors Martell, thus their sigils became one, a gold spear piercing a red sun on an orange field. Their words are Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken. Their motto derives from Aegon’s conquest of Westeros. The first Targaryens, Aegon I, Visneya and Rhaenys conquered six of the seven kingdoms. The epic fantasy book series George R.R Martin’s ‘A Song Of Ice & Fire’ is undoubtedly power-driven as is its adaptation, HBO’s Game Of Thrones. Nobody is safe. Even Sean Bean. He did not know the rules of the game. Ethics, morals and having a conscience are prohibited. In this game you must take no prisoners, have no weaknesses. If you don’t like the rules, you change the rules. Many characters have done this using any means necessary to get what they want. You must be ruthless and cunning. It is survival of the fittest. The only way to survive is through ruthless pragmatism. You must kill or be killed; hunt or be hunted. “Maggy the Frog”, was a fortune-teller from Lannisport in the Westerlands. The Westerlands are ruled by House Lannister where the ruling lord is normally Warden Of The West. Maggy arrived in Lannisport as a young woman. She was brought by her husband from the east. He had been trading spices in the east. Their son was the founder of House Spicer. As a girl, Cersei Lannister looked for Maggy after hearing whispers of her magical powers. Jeyne Farman, Cersei & Melara Hetherspoon journeyed to her during the tourney for King Aerys II’s visit to the Westerlands, at which Cersei became besotted with Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.
